Understanding the connection between your choices and your health.
We don't give medical advice, we connect dots.
Kevin Komlosy, Founder
After 20 years of undiagnosed gluten sensitivity, Kevin built the app he wished had existed all along — one that connects what you do to what your body measures, and makes the invisible visible.
Nobody should have to spend 20 years masking symptoms that data could have explained.
For over 20 years, Kevin Komlosy dealt with symptoms that no doctor could properly explain. Sensitivity to overhead fluorescent lights at work was so severe that it required constant eye medication just to get through the day. Optometrists prescribed new lenses. Ophthalmologists ran tests. Primary care doctors adjusted medications. Every specialist treated the symptom in front of them. Not a single one recommended an endocrinologist. Not one connected the dots between the light sensitivity, the fatigue, the brain fog, and what was actually happening inside his body.
For two decades, the answer was the same: mask the symptom, manage the discomfort, and move on.
When Kevin contracted COVID-19 in February 2022, the virus didn't just add new symptoms — it multiplied the effects of everything that had been silently building for years. In a single month, his weight dropped from 180 lbs to under 140 lbs. Energy was gone. His mind was completely in a fog. Basic tasks felt impossible.
I felt like I was dying. I stopped focusing on my health and started focusing on life goals with my family — spending time with the people who mattered most, because I wasn't sure how much time I had left.
Doctors had no clear answers. It wasn't until late March, when Kevin finally met his first endocrinologist, that the pieces started falling into place. The root cause had been there all along: an undiagnosed gluten sensitivity that had been silently driving symptoms for over two decades.
A functional medicine doctor changed everything. For the first time, Kevin started to understand how his body actually responded to what he consumed, how he moved, and what he was exposed to. The connection between gluten and his symptoms became clear. The relationship between alcohol and his body's measurable responses became undeniable.
But even with this understanding, there was a gap. There was no tool that could show him the DATA — no way to see the measurable biometric shifts when he consumed gluten, no way to track how his body recovered when he avoided it, no way to connect the dots across days and weeks and months.
That gap is why VitalWhy exists. Kevin built the app he wished he'd had for those 20 years — one that connects what you do to what your body measures, and makes the invisible visible.
With VitalWhy, he can clearly see what happens when he consumes gluten. He can see the measurable impact of alcohol on his biometrics. And something unexpected happened: he started seeing the impact of exercise. Not the kind of change you notice day to day, but the trends that emerge over weeks — the mood changes, the energy improvements, the biometric shifts that proved something was working.
I was never a dedicated fitness person because I couldn't see the immediate change. But after using this app, I started to see the changes. It started connecting the dots, and it became a lifestyle change — not because someone told me to change, but because the data showed me why.
The mood improvements. The energy shifts. The clear, measurable difference on days when he avoided the things that dramatically altered his body. It wasn't willpower or motivation that drove the change. It was data. It was seeing the proof in his own numbers.
VitalWhy was built on a simple belief: your body is already telling you what's working and what isn't. You just need a way to see it.
No one should have to spend 20 years bouncing between specialists who each treat one symptom without connecting the bigger picture. No one should have to wait for a health crisis to finally get the right referral. And no one should have to rely on generic advice when their own data holds the answers.
VitalWhy makes the invisible visible. It connects the dots that doctors, specialists, and generic health apps miss. And it puts the power of your own data in your hands — privately, locally, and entirely under your control.
Every body is different. What helps one person might not help another. VitalWhy exists to help you discover what specifically affects your unique physiology.
We believe that with the right tools, anyone can become their own health detective. By connecting the dots between daily choices and measurable biometric changes, you gain insights that no generic health advice can provide.
VitalWhy doesn't tell you what to do. Instead, it shows you what's happening in your body and helps you identify potential causes. The conclusions you draw are your own, based on your personal data.
Four ways we support your journey to better self-understanding.
See changes in your biometrics that you might otherwise miss. Your wearable collects data constantly, but VitalWhy surfaces the meaningful shifts — in your heart rate, HRV, blood pressure, SpO2, weight, sleep, and more.
By prompting you to log what happened — what you consumed, how you moved, what stressed you — we capture the context around biometric changes. Over time, patterns emerge from this connected data.
Our correlation engine analyzes your data to find consistent patterns. You see which events tend to help or hurt your health metrics — and the encouragement system celebrates what's working.
Generate PDF reports to share with your therapist, doctor, or healthcare provider. Your data tells a story — now you can bring that story to your appointments.
A comprehensive view of your body's signals, all connected through Health Connect.
VitalWhy is designed for Android users with any Health Connect-compatible wearable — smart rings, smartwatches, fitness bands, blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, and smart scales.
We want to be clear about what VitalWhy does and doesn't do:
VitalWhy helps you notice patterns and generate hypotheses about your health. Testing those hypotheses should involve proper medical guidance when appropriate.
